Super delicious and fresh fish. Fried were seasoned and crispy. The"market" partt of the restaurant left a little too be desired, but then again, we're used to wholey's.
Had the well known fish sandwich and fries. Was served on plain white bread. Sandwich had two big pieces of fish on it and was fresh out of the oil. Fries were seasoned, hot and crispy.
Great food and nice employees, but check your order before leaving. We have gotten take out several times only to get home and find out we didn't receive everything we ordered. When we called, they were kind enough to write our name down, and then gave us our missed items on our next trip.
Classical fresh fish market offering grilling or steaming of all fish sold. Known for their fried Canadian whitefish sandwiches but my favorite is the steamed, herbed whitefish with rice on vegetables.
The fish sandwiches here were always so good , it was on my must do list at last visit I gagged on the first bite of my sandwich , the fish was so strong that I couldn't eat it . Always had either Canadian white fish or cod , this was neither .
The Canadian white fish sandwich in the special line was awesome! This was the first time I had it here.
Coleman's is a classic in the Wheeling area. People come from all over the place to get their fish sandwiches. The default is the pollock on bread. Period. I tend to get the whitefish and ad a touch of tarter sauce. It takes a little longer and you have to go through the special order line, but I really like it. They will serve it without the bread if you want (that's how I order it) or for a bit more they will serve it on a bun. Coleman's is in the historic market house and I remember being a tyke and shopping for produce there with my mom. There are lots of little shops across from the market house on both sides. Fun area to check out in addition to the really good fish sandwiches. BTW, they have all sorts of seafood and some other items you can order besides fish.
. Easy ordering. Fish sandwiches awesome. Great experience. That was fun
The line setup was a little confusing. But once I found the right place to go, everything went pretty smoothly. They got people in and out pretty easily. The fish sandwiches were awesome. It was my first time. It won't be my last time.
Splendid food totally worth the wait and price.
If you are reading this you must stop now and just go if you want the best fish sandwich in the world...The best!!!
They have the best fish sandwich I've ever had. I finally understand the hype. We only live about an hour away in Ohio. We'll be back soon and this time will take a bagful of sandwiches home.
This week I drove 4+ hour drive to Wheeling and back to Columbus for fish (and shrimp) sandwiches from Coleman's Fish Market and produce from Jebbia's Market. The shrimp sandwiches have 3 of the sweetest and most tasty shrimp you'll find. My photo shows just half a fish sandwich; Coleman's loads up the fish on the most bland white bread on the planet so that it doesn't interfere with the taste of the fish. If you visit Wheeling, make sure you stop for a sandwich and maybe buy a few more to take home. They'll prepare the order "bread separate" if you ask.
Best old-fashioned fish sandwiches and sides. Pollock and Whitefish are their "normal" sandwiches. They have crab cakes and other popular menu items. Also has a LOT of specialty seafood available in their special order line. Don't go there for a dining experience, go there for a really good fiah sandwich and order the bread on the side!
Love their fish...like just watching people while I eat...lots of little shops in the area also
They have the best employees. Always so cheerful & helpful. The food being excellent is a big plus too.!
Coleman's has the best fish I've ever had anywhere. I'm not a huge fan of fish in general, but there is something special about their amazing fish sandwiches. If you've never had one, you won't be disappointed. Their seasoned fries are really good too. They have a huge selection of various seafood that is always fresh.
Food was good and shockingly low prices.
The cooks did not have mask on and that scared me and my family.
My hubby has always loved Colemans
Please dont be discouraged if the line seems long. Remember it's because of the 6' rule and moves SUPER fast!
Great fish sandwiches and sides. Prices a little high but still worth every penny.
Outstanding fish sandwich. Heed the advice and go early, widely popular and for good reason.
Lightly breaded fish, stacked high, on white bread. Who could ask for more!
they have the best fish sandwich and u can get it uncooked and cook at home ( cheaper ) and u can buy uncooked on food stamps
Best fish sandwiches in the tri-state area also can buy fresh seafood or Pollock fish could not be beat
Best fish in Wheeling....been going there since 1985
I bought a deviled crab and a fish sandwich. I was a little disappointed with the deviled crab this time. It was mushy and just wasn't seasoned the same. The fish was good but I missed the brown mustard.
Fabulous fish sandwiches and great service!
There is nowhere better than Coleman's Fish Market in Wheeling, WV for fish sandwiches and sides. We have yet to find anything to come near the quality, volume, and taste of the generous whitefish sandwich. Make it a point to visit them sometime in your life, your palate will thank you!
I ordered 2 fish sandwiches and prefer of fries. The fish was excellent and fresh. The only bad thing is the sandwiches come on sliced white bread and no tarter sauce. A fish sandwich should come on buns and come with tarter sauce unless ppl ask for no tarter .
First time here. Not bad, infact very good.Next time on my travels here I will be sure to stop in for a bite or two.I would recommend to anyone how passing though. Please stop in. You will not be disappointed.
Limited selection but what they had was good at a good price. The fish sandwiches which we ordered first time exceeded our Hope's. We ordered six sandwiches and received enough fish to easily make over 16.
Giant sized fish sandwich on a big whole wheat bun. Less than $6. Piping hot. Perfect!
I was able to bring fresh fish home. It is all ready to fry in a little bit of oil. It was so delicious.
Best fish sandwich I have had.
The fish and fries were very good. The eating area was small but a nice group of people moved so our group could sit together. The young man kept the area clean as more customers came and went.
Have been eating here since a child. One of the best places to eat in Ohio Valley! Best fish around! Fresh seafood, clean, and great service!
Best fish sandwich!
Best fried fish around! Cole slaw also very tasty. Love their deviled crabs and spring rolls also! Can also get fish breaded to take home and fry.
Great fish sandwich. Fried oysters were excellent as well.
So many friends said, you have to stop at Coleman's! So finally I have had the chance today. Wow! So good and did not disappoint
This place is one of my top 3 favorite places to eat ever. Fast service and amazing fish sandwiches. I crave them on a regular! Fries are always on point and potatoes wedges are great too. A must see if you're traveling through the area!!!
Definitely a good place to go and get fish. More varieties than what you might think. There are 2 different menus if you don't want the regular Coleman fish. I think you can also order just fish to take home and prepare. There is a dining area but not in the place, everything is pretty much takeout. Fries are good too.
Excellent food! All kind of seafood, soups, fries, onion rings, Coleslaw, drinks and so much more. Can buy frozen and fresh seafood to take home.
Always good food and fast service.
It's always been a part of my life. As a child growing up, I can remember going to the fish market with my grandfather to pick Coleman's fish with bread on the side. The food is as good now as it was then. When people come back to the valley to visit, they always have to stop at the fish market.
Mediocre. My son ordered the soft shell crab sandwich and could not chew it... the shell was too hard. (I would love to include photos of obviously hard shell!) The cole slaw was good. We ordered crab cakes... got one cake that tasted like the dressing I make for holiday meals and had only a few tiny flakes of meat in them. The scallops were ok, but nothing to rave about.
Fish sandwich is WAY overrated, I mean the thing is served on dry wonder bread?!? Then they charge you 11 cents per tarter packet! Just wow. You don't have to travel any further than your nearest Burger King to find a better fish sandwich!
If you want to order the Canadian white fish sandwich you need to order from the special line to the left. You order then pay when they call your number, take your food to a table and enjoy.
